Company Description Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) is an Institute of National Importance established under the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Act, 2017. The institute offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), along with PhD programs in CSE, ECE, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). M.Tech programs in CSE and ECE began in July 2018, expanding IIITG’s postgraduate and research portfolio. IIITG started operations in August 2013, graduated its first B.Tech batch in May 2017, and held its first convocation in May 2018, reflecting a growing academic and research environment. The institute provides a focused, technology-driven setting with strong emphasis on research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Role Description The JRF cum PhD Scholar role is a full-time, on-site position based at IIIT Guwahati, Assam. The selected candidate will carry out funded research under the supervision of faculty, including literature review, experimental or computational work, data analysis, and preparation of research reports and publications. Day-to-day activities will involve contributing to project deliverables, attending research group meetings, collaborating with other scholars, and maintaining accurate documentation of research progress. The scholar will be expected to enroll in the PhD program, complete coursework as required, assist in teaching or lab supervision when assigned, and present research outcomes in seminars, conferences, and academic forums. The role offers an opportunity to build a strong research profile in information technology and allied disciplines while contributing to the institute’s academic goals.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational knowledge in disciplines relevant to IIITG (such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics, or related areas).
- Demonstrated research aptitude, including ability to conduct literature reviews, formulate research problems, and design theoretical or experimental methodologies.
- Competence in analytical thinking and quantitative methods, with familiarity in relevant tools, programming languages, or simulation software as appropriate to the research area.
- Effective academic writing and communication skills for preparing project reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, manage time effectively, and maintain organized research records.
- Master’s degree or strong Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field meeting IIITG’s PhD admission criteria; GATE/NET or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Prior research experience, internships, publications, or project work in a related domain will be considered an advantage.
