About the Role
At JPA Health, the Senior Director is a senior client leader responsible for shaping strategy and driving high-impact communications across public health and healthcare accounts.
This is a hands-on role. You will lead strategy, guide execution, and ensure teams are delivering high-quality, integrated work across multiple accounts.
You will partner closely with the Managing Director while operating independently as the senior lead across your portfolio. You will also work closely with teams across Client Services and JPA Labs to ensure coordinated delivery, while contributing to the continued evolution of the team as it grows.
This role is best suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment and can bring clarity and direction to complex, evolving work.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead communications strategy across assigned public health and healthcare accounts
- Serve as a senior advisor to client stakeholders
- Align organizational priorities into clear, outcome-driven plans
- Lead strategic planning sessions and major client reviews
- Ensure deliverables reflect strong thinking and clear direction
Client Leadership
- Own senior client relationships
- Lead client meetings and provide strategic counsel
- Identify risks and opportunities across accounts
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across teams
Growth
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client work
- Support new business efforts including pitches and proposals
- Contribute to overall account and hub growth
Team Leadership
- Mentor Engagement Leads and junior team members
- Guide teams through complex workstreams
- Support strong collaboration across teams
- Help improve delivery efficiency and prioritization
About You
- 8 to 12+ years of experience in healthcare communications, public affairs, or a related agency environment
- Strong background in client services with experience leading strategy across accounts
- Experience working with public health, nonprofit, or association clients is highly valued
- Proven ability to lead senior client relationships independently
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to connect communications to outcomes
- Commercial awareness and comfort contributing to growth efforts
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and guide teams through complexity
- Clear communicator who can influence both clients and internal teams
- High level of ownership and accountability
