The Wound Nurse is responsible for the skin and wound care with an emphasis on prevention and treatment of skin disorders. The Wound Nurse follows the established nursing Care Plan and makes appropriate as residents care of needs and/or physical orders change. Assist with the duties of a staff nurse when needed.

Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of practice
- A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of experience as an LPN or RN.
- Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.
- Certification in wound care, not required upon hire but must receive wound certification within 6 months of hire date.
- Continuing education in wound care and pressure injury staging required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies, manages, and treats specific skin conditions, such as pressure injuries; diabetic, venous, or arterial ulcers; and traumatic or complicated wounds.
- Provide wound care on assigned residents, in accordance with physician orders, following manufacturer recommendations and appropriate techniques.
- Completes a thorough and accurate wound assessment upon notification of wound. Completes follow-up assessments weekly and as needed. Documents all assessments in the medical record.
- Confers with the care plan team in the development of the comprehensive care plan.
