Role: Journalist/News Writer Intern
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to contribute to our editorial and reporting efforts. This internship offers a real-world view into the daily operations of a professional newsroom and an opportunity to build a robust portfolio.
🔑 Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting and Research: Conduct thorough research on assigned topics and assist reporters with gathering facts, data, and background information for stories.
- News Writing: Draft articles, news summaries, and blog posts under the supervision of senior editors, adhering to strict journalistic standards and deadlines.
- Interviews: Assist in scheduling and occasionally conducting interviews with sources and community members.
- Fact-Checking: Meticulously fact-check and proofread articles for accuracy, clarity, and grammatical errors before publication.
- Digital Content: Contribute to content creation for our digital and social media platforms, including writing engaging headlines and captions.
- Pitching: Participate in editorial meetings and pitch original, relevant, and compelling story ideas.
✨ Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent news writing, reporting, and research skills (school newspaper, personal blog, or published work).
- Exceptional command of grammar, punctuation, and AP style (or relevant style guide).
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools and content management systems is a plus.
