Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Retention and Student Support, the Student Retention Support Coordinator provides operational, administrative, and outreach support for institutional retention and holistic student support initiatives. This position assists with coordinating communication, tracking student engagement data, supporting early-alert follow-up, and facilitating connections to campus and community resources.
This role also supports student basic needs initiatives, including food security, transportation access, wellness resources, and support for student parents. The coordinator ensures timely documentation, accurate record keeping, and consistent outreach while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and FERPA regulations.
Position Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with the implementation of retention and student support strategies aligned with institutional goals.
- Supports early alert outreach by contacting students, scheduling follow-up meetings, and documenting interactions.
- Maintains and updates student case notes and retention records within student success software-CRM
- Assists in monitoring attendance, academic progress, and engagement indicators as directed.
- Prepares outreach lists, communication drafts, and cohort tracking reports.
- Coordinates referrals to tutoring, advising, counseling, financial aid, and other student support resources.
- Supports initiatives addressing food insecurity, including coordination with campus food pantry services.
- Assists students with access to transportation resources and other community partnerships.
- Supports wellness initiatives by connecting students to counseling, health services, and wellness programming.
- Assists in outreach and data tracking efforts related to student parents and family economic mobility initiatives.
- Provides professional customer service to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, and virtual platforms.
- Compiles retention and student support data for internal review and reporting purposes.
- Maintains confidentiality of all student information in accordance with FERPA and institutional guidelines.
- Participates in professional development and institutional training.
- Promotes teamwork and collaboration across JCC.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of student success and institutional goals.

Education Minimum: Associate degree required
Education Preferred:
- Coursework in education, counseling, social work, student development, or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience Minimum: None
Experience Preferred: Experience providing student support, customer service, or administrative support in an educational setting is preferred.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
