Turing is a leading technology company dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions. Renowned for its innovative approach, Turing specializes in developing cutting-edge AI systems that transform industries and empower organizations worldwide. The company fosters a dynamic and collaborative environment where talented professionals can thrive and contribute to impactful projects. With a focus on research and development, Turing continuously pushes the boundaries of what is possible in AI, ensuring its solutions remain at the forefront of technological innovation.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our team working on groundbreaking datasets for large language model (LLM) evaluation and training. This role involves engaging directly with high-quality public GitHub repositories to build verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world software development histories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly in understanding and navigating complex codebases, and will be instrumental in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to AI research by enhancing datasets that facilitate the training of more capable and reliable LLMs in software engineering contexts.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up and maintaining software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and modify complex codebases, run and test projects locally, and contribute to open-source initiatives. Experience in AI or LLM evaluation projects, while not mandatory, is considered a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment are also required.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues from trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub to identify challenging tasks for LLMs.
- Set up, configure, and maintain development environments, including Dockerization and environment management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and quality to ensure the robustness of datasets and codebases.
- Modify, run, and test real-world projects locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that are suitable for evaluating LLM capabilities.
- Lead or mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
