About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled software engineer (tech lead level) to join our innovative team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in developing datasets that enable LLMs to effectively address realistic software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and working with high-quality public repositories, automating development environments, and assessing code quality. Your expertise will directly influence the creation of verifiable SWE tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop methodologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering research that bridges software engineering and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern development practices.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and containerization tools such as Docker.
- Strong ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex codebases.
- Hands-on experience in setting up and automating development environments.
- Ability to run, test, and troubleshoot real-world projects locally.
- Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues reported in GitHub repositories across trending open-source libraries.
- Set up, configure, and automate development environments, including Dockerization and environment management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of codebases to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Modify and execute codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to identify repositories and issues that pose challenges for LLMs, aiding in dataset creation and evaluation.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project workflows and automation processes.
