About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is pivotal in developing datasets that help train LLMs to effectively address realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing and working with high-quality public repositories on GitHub, with the ability to contribute hands-on development and automation tasks. Your expertise will directly impact the creation of verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop methodologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, shaping the future of AI-assisted development tools.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on web technologies. Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript is essential, along with a solid understanding of version control systems such as Git. Experience with containerization tools like Docker and familiarity with setting up and automating software pipelines are required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to navigate and understand complex codebases, modify existing projects, and run local tests efficiently. Prior experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges for LLMs.
- Set up, configure, and maintain code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup for testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of codebases to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Modify and run codebases locally to test LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that pose significant challenges for LLMs, aiding dataset development.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows and automation processes.
