Its commitment to excellence and innovation positions it as a pioneer in the AI ecosystem, making it an ideal place for professionals eager to contribute to impactful projects and shape the future of AI-driven solutions.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on groundbreaking projects related to large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the development of datasets that enable LLMs to address realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, particularly with public GitHub repositories, and will be responsible for hands-on engineering tasks such as automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. You will collaborate closely with researchers and other engineers to identify challenging repositories and issues, and may lead junior team members to ensure project success. This role is pivotal in helping shape the future of AI-assisted software development and offers a unique blend of practical engineering and research-driven innovation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with demonstrated expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should be comfortable navigating complex codebases, running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment are important qualities for success in this role. Prior experience with LLM research or automation tools is a plus, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub, identifying areas for improvement and challenge for LLMs.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to facilitate efficient testing and evaluation.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and quality within repositories to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Modify, run, and debug codebases locally to evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate with research teams to design datasets and identify repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs.
- Potentially lead a team of junior engineers, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure project milestones are met.
Benefits
Joining Turing offers the opportunity to work in a fully remote environment, providing flexibility and work-life balance. You will have the chance to engage with cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading LLM companies, expanding your expertise and influence in the AI community. Turing values talent and offers a supportive environment that encourages innovation and continuous professional development. As part of our team, you will gain exposure to a diverse set of projects, collaborate with top-tier professionals worldwide, and contribute to shaping the future of AI-driven software engineering solutions. Additionally, remote work allows you to tailor your workspace to your preferences, fostering productivity and comfort.
