About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves direct involvement in developing datasets that enable LLMs to address realistic software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with high-quality public GitHub repositories, contributing to automation processes, and evaluating code quality. You will play a pivotal role in building verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, employing synthetic approaches with human-in-the-loop methodologies. Your expertise will help expand dataset coverage across various programming languages, difficulty levels, and task types, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of AI systems' understanding of real-world coding scenarios.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong background in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases and be comfortable running, modifying, and testing real-world projects locally. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with AI research, LLM evaluation, or automation tools will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues reported on GitHub across trending open-source libraries to identify relevant challenges for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment management, to streamline testing and development workflows.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and code quality to ensure datasets are built on robust and reliable codebases.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that pose significant challenges for language models.
- Lead or mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
