About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our innovative team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves contributing to the development of datasets aimed at training LLMs to handle realistic software engineering challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public repositories, particularly on GitHub, and possess hands-on experience in software development, environment automation, and code evaluation. You will play a vital role in analyzing open-source projects, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality, all while collaborating closely with AI researchers and other engineers. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development while leading technical initiatives within the team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and familiarity with setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should have the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify real-world projects locally, and evaluate code quality effectively. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Candidates with prior exposure to AI or LLM research projects will have an added advantage. A proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment are key attributes for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenges relevant to LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including environment automation through Dockerization and other tools.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of existing tests within repositories.
- Modify and run codebases locally to test and evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code comprehension scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that are challenging for LLMs, contributing to dataset diversity and coverage.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high-quality project deliverables.
- Document findings, create reports, and provide insights to guide further development and research efforts.
