About The Company
Turing is one of the world's fastest-growing AI companies dedicated to advancing and deploying powerful AI systems. With a focus on innovation and excellence, Turing leverages cutting-edge technology to shape the future of artificial intelligence and software development. The company is committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive work environment that empowers talented professionals to contribute to groundbreaking projects in AI research and application. As a leader in the AI industry, Turing collaborates with top-tier organizations and researchers to push the boundaries of what is possible with intelligent systems, making a significant impact across various sectors including software engineering, automation, and data science.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our innovative project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. The primary objective of this initiative is to develop verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop methodologies. This role involves hands-on software engineering tasks, including automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality within open-source repositories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality public GitHub repositories, with the ability to analyze complex codebases and contribute to the development of datasets that span various programming languages and difficulty levels. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development by working at the intersection of software engineering and AI research.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years of professional experience in software development, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in version control systems such as Git, containerization tools like Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, modify and run projects locally, and evaluate code quality and test coverage effectively. Experience with open-source contributions or evaluations is advantageous. Additionally, familiarity with automation tools and a solid understanding of software development best practices are preferred. Candidates with prior involvement in LLM research, evaluation projects, or experience building developer tools will have an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenging problems for LLMs. Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and evaluation. Evaluate unit test coverage and quality to ensure datasets are robust and representative. Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios. Collaborate closely with researchers to design and identify repositories and issues that are suitable for training and evaluating LLMs. Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment for project success. Continuously improve automation workflows and contribute to the development of synthetic datasets that expand coverage across different programming languages and task types. Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and reproducibility throughout the project lifecycle.
Benefits
Work remotely from anywhere, providing flexibility and work-life balance. Engage in cutting-edge AI projects that are shaping the future of software engineering and automation. Collaborate with a team of talented professionals and industry leaders dedicated to innovation. Gain exposure to the latest advancements in LLM evaluation and training, enhancing your skills and expertise. Flexible work hours with options to commit 20, 30, or 40 hours per week, allowing you to tailor your workload according to your availability. Opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that influence AI development and deployment across various industries. Turing also offers a referral program where you can earn rewards by recommending talented professionals from your network.
