About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on building LLM evaluation and training datasets. This role involves engaging with high-quality public GitHub repositories to create verifiable software engineering tasks based on real repository histories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly with open-source projects, and will be instrumental in automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and code quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to pioneering efforts in AI and software engineering, working closely with researchers to design challenging tasks for LLMs and expanding dataset coverage across various programming languages and difficulty levels.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency in Git for version control, Docker for environment management, and familiarity with setting up and automating software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and perform thorough evaluations of code quality and test coverage. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additional experience in LLM research, developer tools, or automation agents will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing and triaging issues across trending open-source libraries on GitHub, setting up and configuring code repositories with Docker and environment automation, and evaluating unit test coverage and quality. You will modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and other software engineering scenarios. Collaboration with researchers will be vital in designing and identifying repositories and issues that present meaningful challenges for LLMs. Opportunities to lead and mentor junior engineers will also be available, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
