About The Role
LearningMate is seeking an InDesign JavaScript Developer with XML knowledge and a strong background in Artificial Intelligence (AI). In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions that optimize our publishing processes. Your expertise will help streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and ensure high-quality digital publishing outputs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including design, production, and development, to gather requirements, develop scripts, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless integration of automation solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of digital publishing innovation, leveraging your technical skills to impact the educational content creation process significantly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in JavaScript development, specifically in Adobe InDesign automation.
- Strong proficiency in InDesign scripting and JavaScript programming.
- Expertise in XML technologies, including XSLT, XSD, and XPath.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as AppleScript and ExtendScript.
- Knowledge of InDesign Server and its automation capabilities.
- Familiarity with database systems and their integration with automation workflows.
- Experience with unit testing and test-driven development (TDD).
- Understanding of typography, layout design, and digital publishing standards.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum, along with version control systems like Git.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain JavaScript-based automation scripts tailored for Adobe InDesign to streamline publishing workflows.
- Create and manage XML workflows for automated document generation, processing, and content management.
- Collaborate with design, production, and development teams to gather requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Debug and troubleshoot automation scripts and workflows to optimize performance and ensure seamless operation.
- Participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for scripts, workflows, and automation processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new tools, and emerging technologies related to InDesign, JavaScript, and XML to continually enhance automation capabilities.
- Support the integration of automation solutions with existing systems and workflows, including InDesign Server and databases.
