We’re hiring a Senior Java Software Engineer for our client, joining the Sustainability & Climate Engineering team to develop and operate high-performance, client-facing APIs delivering Sustainability & Climate datasets and analytics.
This is a hands-on role for engineers who have experience building high-throughput, low-latency APIs and optimizing them for real production workloads.

💥 Role Overview
You will own the complete API lifecycle — from dataset requirements and API design through development, performance testing, deployment, monitoring, optimization, and production support.

✅ Must-Have Requirements
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with REST APIs, microservices, and API design
• Strong SQL and relational database experience
• Proven experience building and tuning high-throughput, low-latency APIs
• Hands-on experience with load and stress testing
• Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks and maintaining defined RPS and latency targets
• Experience across the complete SDLC, including production support and monitoring
• Strong understanding of API performance, scalability, and reliability
➕ Nice to Have
• Python programming
• Sustainability & Climate domain experience
• Cloud-native technologies and Kubernetes
• CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Caching strategies and database/query optimization
• Observability and APM tooling
• JMeter or Gatling
• AI-assisted development tools
• Prompt engineering, MCP (Model Context Protocol), or agentic AI workflows
