About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves directly contributing to projects that focus on creating verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop methods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality open-source repositories, particularly on platforms like GitHub, and possess the technical expertise to automate development environments, triage issues, and evaluate code coverage and quality. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of practical software engineering and AI research, influencing the future of AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java. Strong familiarity with version control systems like Git, containerization tools like Docker, and basic software pipeline setup is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, run and modify projects locally, and assess code quality effectively. Experience contributing to or evaluating open-source projects is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with AI research, LLM evaluation projects, or developer tools is considered a plus, as is prior experience working on automation agents or testing frameworks.
Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include analyzing and triaging issues from trending open-source libraries hosted on GitHub, setting up and configuring code repositories—including Dockerization and environment setup—and evaluating unit test coverage and quality. You will modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing scenarios and collaborate closely with researchers to identify repositories and issues that are challenging for language models. There are also opportunities to lead junior engineers, guiding project work and fostering team collaboration. Your contributions will directly impact the development of datasets that enable more realistic and diverse software engineering tasks for training and evaluating LLMs.
