About the role

Job Summary

The Product Launch (PL) Technician will work in the plant to successfully introduce new jewelry items in manufacturing. The PL Technician will work with Associates and Section Leaders on new items and if necessary, develop the skillset(s) required. During the product launch, the PL Technician will collaborate and work with engineering to gather new product launch data for manufacturing. 

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Conducts best practice training for introduction of new products in manufacturing. 
  • Initiates, writes and maintains item specific work instruction following established procedures. 
  • Validates and updates the routing and Bill of Material (BOM) requirements and executes launch of new products as determined by the products process routing requirements.
  • Records product launch data for costing of new product including routing, times, yields and weights.
  • Successfully integrates new items into the product line with attention to design integrity, production compatibility, product quality, process yield, and identifies optimum ergonomic requirements.
  • Coordinates with Section Leaders and lead-technicians to help solve any process control issues that arise between departments or shifts.
  • Supports on-time delivery of new products, product changes and conversions, to scheduled events.
  • Supports creating Dozuki guidebooks for new or modified processes needed for launching new products in manufacturing. 
  • Coordinates with Product Development to implement necessary changes in product line items, gates, model alterations and maintenance, tooling, etc., 
  • Assists in the production of items while maintaining design quality aesthetics as needed.
  • Conducts process and product audits as needed, to validate times, work instructions and identifies optimum batch sizes to meet best manufacturing practices.
  • Assists in the development and integration of new production processes and techniques, tool innovations, and systems to enhance product quality and efficiency of various manufacturing methods.
  • Responsible for process revision, validation, and quality control for improved manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains open communication with all manufacturing plants and support groups.
  • Ensures documentation and revision control of all manufacturing processes are updated in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Informs Management, Engineering and Quality departments of production process inconsistencies, productivity and quality concerns and equipment needs.
  • Supports audits of processes used in manufacturing and helps confirms best practices.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing processes, utilizing procedures, tools, fixtures, and machinery to successfully demonstrate a complete understanding, and working knowledge of what is required to get a product from start to finish through production.
  • Demonstrated performance on a specialized skill with an elevated level of complexity. 
  • Solid understanding of jewelry making process at a mass production level. 
  • Ability to execute an organize data collection plan to drive to root cause analysis.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with internal departments and customers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of product quality standards.
  • Ability to determine the causes of manufacturing defects and identify options to correct the problem.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage frequent interruptions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Must be able to travel to other work locations as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical/Vocational certification or Associate’s Degree in a science, engineering, technology, computer science, mathematics or related field.
  • Experience in Excel data sorting, analysis, formulas and spreadsheet design.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others on new manufacturing technique, procedures or processes.
