Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Math Teacher to join our team at JPS Middle School At Parkside. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment, inspire students to develop a love for mathematics, and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance the educational experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Teach a variety of mathematical concepts, including but not limited to algebra, geometry, and statistics, to middle school students.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a growth mindset.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments, providing timely feedback to promote improvement.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and behavioral issues.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in mathematics education.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant documentation.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other school activities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or license in Mathematics for middle school.
- Proven experience as a Math Teacher or in a similar educational role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.

Purpose Statement:
To encourage and promote the educational and social success of students at the secondary level.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities: (May not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform.)
● Teaches District adopted curriculum
● Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
● Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations
and procedures of the District.
● Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
● Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
● Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical
limitations
of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
● Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone
calls, conferences, etc.
● Establishes and maintains reasonable standards and procedures for pupil behavior to achieve an effective
learning atmosphere.
● Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps accurate records and prepares progress reports.
● Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
● Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
● Plans and coordinates the work of parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.

Education And/Or Experience-Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (if applicable):
● Four-year degree from an accredited teacher preparation program.
● Valid Teaching Certificate in area of study.
● Highly qualified.
● MDE Endorsements (EX) as necessary for job assignment.

classroom and hallway environments.
● Ability to operate a computer, projector, and other classroom technology.
● May be required to perform duties outdoors during arrival, dismissal, or recess supervision.
