Job Title: Financial Specialist
Location: JB Martin Company: Leesville, South Carolina. In person position.
Reports To: Director of Accounting
Contract or Part-Time Position
Position Summary:
JB Martin is just starting a major ERP implementation project and in order to free up the Director of Accounting, Controller and several other positions we need some extra help. JB Martin is seeking a qualified individual to support both routine responsibilities and special projects. This is a contract or part-time position, with an expected commitment of approximately 10 to 25+ hours per week.
The role will primarily support the accounting department, while also contributing to select operational areas. The ideal candidate must be flexible and willing to take on a wide range of responsibilities to help support the team through the end of the year. Duties will span from transactional tasks to more analytical work.
The individual must be willing to take on all duties, as necessary, to help relieve our staff during this implementation timeframe. Strong excel skills are essential, along with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to understand the broader business context. Other key responsibilities could include analyzing performance metrics, resolving issues, and communicating with staff members. As the Financial Specialist your duties could include:
- Operate as the right-hand person to the key financial players
- Assist several key operational individuals with some of their duties
- Assist the Director of Accounting/Controller with low and high level duties and projects as needed
- Assist in daily coordination/production scheduling of several key accounts
- Assist in the Production Inventory Report
- Assist in month-end and year-end closings if necessary
- Assist in Managing General Ledger Activities
- Assist in preparing financial statements
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties
- Contribute positively and proactively with all team members of the company
Education & Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of GAAP
- Experience with ERP and related systems (Quickbooks, Sharepoint etc.)
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong excel and ERP software skills, quick learner
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong team collaboration skills
- Able to uphold and maintain discretion regarding confidential and sensitive information
- Team player that displays effective and clear communication
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles
- Follows the company’s processes and procedures
Job Type: Part-Time/Contract
Salary: $25-$35 an hour
