About the role
We are currently searching for a Safety Intern. ITG Brands' Environmental & Safety team maximizes the value of the organization through analysis, planning and implementation of safety process improvements to ensure a compliant and safe workplace.
The Safety Intern will study occupational safety within ITG Brands and the OSHA laws under 29 CFR 1910 to understand their application as it applies to production manufacturing. Focus will be on evaluating and improving manufacturing safety specifications for our Factory Made Cigarette (FMC) products segment.
The Safety Intern will have the following objectives:
Conduct a gap analysis of current SDS management practices and recommend improvements to streamline processes and enhance compliance
Review the chemical inventory and safety data sheet (SDS) database
Ensure that SDS management practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices to minimize risks associated with hazardous materials
Implement a system for regular SDS review and updates, including a schedule for quarterly audits and revisions as necessary
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Participating in safety learning events
Understanding Safety's role and responsibilities in driving ITG Brands' overall safety performance
Spending a significant amount of time in production manufacturing areas, often unescorted once properly trained
