Job Title: IT Product SME – Digital Factory Apps (DFOS/MDCS) (Consumer Products Industry)
Reports to: Global IT Lead - Manufacturing

Location: Ice Cream Office Pune , India
Role Overview
The Business Analyst for Digital Factory Operating System (DFOS) and Manufacturing Data Collection Systems (MDCS) will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of digital solutions that enable connected, data‑driven, and high‑performing manufacturing operations. The role focuses on gathering requirements, mapping processes, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring successful deployment of factory‑level digital applications across global sites.
The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing process understanding, hands‑on experience with digital factory or data collection systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, IT, and vendor teams.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Process Analysis
- Gather, document, and validate business requirements for DFOS and MDCS solutions across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Map current‑state and future‑state manufacturing processes, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Translate operational needs into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Support the development of standardized data models, interfaces, and integration requirements.
Solution Design & Implementation Support
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and technical teams to design solutions aligned with business needs.
- Participate in system configuration reviews, design workshops, and technical discussions.
- Support data mapping, data validation, and data quality activities for manufacturing data collection.
- Assist in coordinating pilot deployments, global rollouts, and site onboarding activities.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop test plans, test cases, and scripts for DFOS and MDCS applications.
- Execute functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Document defects, track resolution, and ensure solutions meet business expectations before go‑live.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to understand operational challenges and digital needs.
- Support change management activities, including training materials, user guides, and communication plans.
- Facilitate workshops, demos, and feedback sessions with site teams and global stakeholders.
Operations & BAU Support
- Provide Level‑2 functional support for DFOS and MDCS applications.
- Support incident analysis, root‑cause investigation, and resolution coordination.
- Monitor system performance, data accuracy, and user adoption, recommending improvements where needed.
- Maintain documentation, process flows, and knowledge bases.
Technology & Process Expertise
- Develop a strong understanding of digital factory technologies, IIoT platforms, data collection systems, and shop‑floor processes.
- Support integration efforts between DFOS/MDCS and MES, ERP, PLM, or analytics platforms.
- Identify opportunities for automation, analytics, and process optimization using real‑time data and dashboards.
🧩 Required Qualifications & Experience
- Educational background in Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, or related fields.
- Experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst in manufacturing, digital factory, MES, or data collection environments.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as production execution, quality, maintenance, and shop‑floor operations.
- Familiarity with IIoT platforms, data historians, edge devices, or industrial communication protocols (OPC/UA, MQTT, etc.).
- Experience documenting requirements, user stories, process flows, and test cases.
- Exposure to analytics, dashboards, RPA, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a proactive, problem‑solving approach.
- Ability to work with global teams across time zones.
- Strong documentation and information management discipline.
⭐ Desirable Skills
- Experience with digital factory operating systems, data collection frameworks, or IIoT architectures.
- Exposure to OEE systems, predictive maintenance, digital twins, or real‑time analytics.
- Experience supporting large‑scale digital transformation or multi‑site deployments.
- Understanding of integration between DFOS/MDCS and MES/ERP systems.
