Role Purpose
The Manager – Automation / IT-OT will be responsible for managing, maintaining and improving plant automation and control systems to ensure reliable manufacturing operations. The role involves PLC/SCADA/HMI/DCS systems, industrial networks, historian platforms, manufacturing applications and integration of shop-floor systems, with a strong focus on pharmaceutical compliance, system reliability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support PLC, SCADA, HMI and DCS-based automation systems across manufacturing and utility areas.
- Ensure reliable operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial automation and process control systems.
- Manage PLC platforms including Siemens S7-300/400/1200/1500, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Schneider Modicon, Mitsubishi and B&R.
- Work with programming and engineering platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 and B&R Automation Studio.
- Support and administer SCADA/HMI applications including WinCC, WinCC Unified, WinCC Professional, FactoryTalk View, Ignition SCADA, AVEVA/Wonderware InTouch and iFIX.
- Manage industrial communication and historian solutions such as Kepware, AVEVA Historian, Proficy Historian, FactoryTalk Historian and Siemens Process Historian.
- Support integration of plant-floor automation systems with MES, Werum PAS-X, LIMS and LabWare applications.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, IT and external system integrators/vendors for automation projects, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Participate in automation projects, including URS preparation/review, design review, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification and handover.
- Ensure automation systems are operated and maintained in accordance with applicable GMP requirements, data integrity principles and site procedures.
- Support change controls, deviations, CAPA and troubleshooting related to automation/IT-OT systems.
- Ensure appropriate backup, restoration, access control and system lifecycle management for critical automation systems.
- Drive system upgrades, obsolescence management and continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability, productivity and equipment performance.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and other team members and coordinate with OEMs/vendors for critical issues.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Automation & Control: PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, Process Control, Industrial Automation and System Integration
- Siemens: TIA Portal, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200, S7-1500, WinCC, WinCC Professional and WinCC Unified
- Rockwell / Allen-Bradley: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk View
- Other PLC Platforms: Schneider Modicon, Mitsubishi PLC and B&R Automation Studio
- SCADA Platforms: Ignition SCADA, AVEVA/Wonderware InTouch and iFIX
- Historian & Connectivity: Kepware, AVEVA Historian, Proficy Historian, FactoryTalk Historian and Siemens Process Historian
- Manufacturing Systems: MES, Werum PAS-X, LIMS and LabWare
- Good understanding of instrumentation, industrial communication, control systems and process automation
- Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated environment will be preferred.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in Automation / Control Systems / IT-OT.
- Strong hands-on experience in PLC, SCADA, HMI and industrial automation systems.
- Experience in automation system integration, troubleshooting, commissioning and qualification.
- Good understanding of GMP-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, vendor-management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to independently manage automation projects and provide technical leadership to the team
