About The Role
The IT Network Architect at Vistance Networks plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced network solutions that support our business objectives. This senior-level position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in network architecture, capable of translating complex technological concepts into practical, scalable solutions. The successful candidate will partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive technology roadmaps, establish standards, and lead initiatives that ensure our network infrastructure remains secure, reliable, and aligned with industry best practices. As a key escalation point, the Network Architect will oversee critical projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide technical guidance to the network engineering team. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, architecture, and infrastructure strategy.
- Proven track record of delivering complex enterprise-scale network projects across diverse environments and domains.
- Expertise in routing protocols such as MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, along with extensive knowledge of firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco), wireless technologies (Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus), load balancing (F5), and VPN solutions (IPsec, DMVPN).
- Strong understanding of SD-WAN deployment and management, with hands-on experience preferred, especially with Versa Networks.
- Experience with cloud networking architectures in AWS and Azure, including design, vendor selection, and lifecycle management.
- Proficiency in network automation and scripting using Python, REST APIs, YAML/JSON, and tools like Postman.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills utilizing tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and IOS capture.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, accountability, and the ability to operate effectively within cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network and technology roadmaps, providing strategic guidance aligned with business goals.
- Design, review, and ensure network solutions adhere to corporate standards, security policies, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate closely with IT operations and business stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of new initiatives and technologies.
- Assess existing network infrastructure to identify opportunities for optimization, scalability, and cost-efficiency, and develop high-level improvement plans.
- Create detailed architecture documentation, including design diagrams, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
- Lead technical discussions and provide expert guidance to the network engineering team, serving as the primary escalation point for complex issues.
- Perform capacity planning, network modeling, and analysis to ensure solutions meet performance and business requirements.
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) for enterprise network design, implementation, and troubleshooting across various technologies and protocols.
- Support and enhance SD-WAN deployments, with a preference for hands-on experience with Versa Networks.
- Design and manage network services across data centers, branch offices, manufacturing sites, and remote access environments, including IPv6, WAN, and data center networks.
- Develop automation solutions to streamline network operations using scripting languages and APIs.
- Support cloud networking initiatives, including architecture design, vendor engagement, and lifecycle management for AWS and Azure environments.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and packet analysis techniques to resolve critical network incidents and outages.
- Provide fourth-level escalation support for complex network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
