About The Role
In our ‘always on’ world, we believe it’s essential to have a genuine connection with the work you do. The IT Network Architect at Vistance Networks provides advanced expertise in network engineering and architecture, applying best-practice design principles to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient technology use. This role involves partnering with senior leadership to define strategic technology roadmaps, establish standards, and drive ongoing improvements. The Network Architect will lead the implementation of complex network solutions, coordinate cross-functional team efforts, and serve as the primary escalation point for critical network initiatives and issues.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and maintaining enterprise network architectures, ensuring seamless integration across various environments such as data centers, branch offices, manufacturing sites, and remote access points. They will act as a subject matter expert (SME) for enterprise network design, deployment, and troubleshooting, with a focus on routing, firewall, wireless, load balancing, VPN technologies, and cloud networking initiatives. The role demands a strategic thinker with strong technical leadership skills, capable of translating broad technology concepts into actionable strategies that align with business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure strategy, network architecture, and engineering, including extensive knowledge of routing protocols and enterprise network design.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects across multiple technology domains and environments.
- Strong ability to translate broad technical concepts into practical, business-aligned strategies and roadmaps.
- Exceptional critical thinking, judgment, and results-oriented mindset.
- Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills, especially in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated accountability, integrity, and effectiveness working within cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of network and technology roadmaps, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to support organizational goals.
- Design solutions that align with corporate standards, industry best practices, and security policies, ensuring robust and scalable network architectures.
- Collaborate closely with IT Operations and business stakeholders to maintain alignment and facilitate the integration of new initiatives and technologies.
- Assess existing network infrastructure to identify opportunities for optimization, scalability, and cost-efficiency; develop high-level improvement plans.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, design artifacts, and configuration standards, to support ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
- Provide technical leadership to the network architecture team, including resource planning and serving as the primary escalation point for complex issues.
- Perform network modeling, capacity planning, and analysis to ensure solutions meet business and performance requirements.
- Act as SME for enterprise network design, implementation, and troubleshooting across routing (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), QoS, firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco), wireless (Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus), load balancing (F5), and VPN technologies (IPsec, DMVPN).
- Support and enhance SD-WAN deployments, with hands-on experience in Versa Networks preferred.
- Design and manage network services including IPv6, WAN, data centers, manufacturing sites, branch offices, and remote access solutions.
- Develop and maintain automation and orchestration solutions utilizing scripting languages and APIs (Python, REST, YAML/JSON, Postman).
- Support cloud networking initiatives across AWS and Azure, including architecture design, vendor selection, circuit provisioning, and lifecycle management.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting using packet analysis and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, and IOS capture.
- Provide fourth-level escalation support for critical network incidents and outages, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid resolution.
