The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and proactive IT Infrastructure Manager to lead the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of the technology infrastructure at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Manesar. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the school's IT infrastructure is secure, resilient, scalable, and capable of supporting teaching, learning, and business operations.
Working closely with school leadership, the Global IT team, external vendors, and key stakeholders, the postholder will lead the design, implementation, operation, and ongoing management of the school's IT infrastructure, including campus networks (LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi), Internet connectivity, firewalls, servers, cloud services, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, telephony, audiovisual systems, CCTV, access control systems, backup solutions, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity. The role will also lead infrastructure projects, vendor management, technology lifecycle planning, and service delivery while ensuring high availability, security, business continuity, and operational excellence.
Working collaboratively with the Global Applications and Digital Services teams, the postholder will provide the secure and reliable infrastructure required to support enterprise platforms such as iSAMS, Firefly, OpenApply, Zoho, Microsoft 365, and other educational technologies. While application ownership remains with the respective application teams, this role will ensure the underlying infrastructure, identity services, network connectivity, and security controls enable their reliable and efficient operation.

The Role
IT Infrastructure, Network Operations and Service Delivery
- Lead the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the school's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networks, wireless systems, Internet connectivity, telephony, printers, end-user devices, and audiovisual systems
- Coordinate phased IT transition and migration activities while ensuring minimal disruption to school operations.
- Manage user accounts, Microsoft 365 administration, email systems, identity management, and role-based access controls.
- Lead device deployment, endpoint lifecycle management, and asset refresh programmes for laptops, desktops, tablets, interactive displays, printers, and other end-user devices.
- Ensure classrooms, offices, specialist spaces, and communal areas are fully equipped with operational technology.
- Maintain IT asset inventories, licences, warranties, and procurement records.
- Lead infrastructure planning, technology refresh, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives to support current and future business requirements.
- Design, implement, manage, and maintain the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Manage Internet connectivity, SD-WAN, firewalls, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and network segmentation.
- Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
- Manage Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive services.
- Implement and manage endpoint management solutions including Microsoft Intune and JAMF.
- Oversee CCTV, IP telephony, access control systems, UPS, server rooms, and audiovisual infrastructure.
- Ensure infrastructure capacity planning, hardware lifecycle management, and preventive maintenance.
- Prepare and manage IT infrastructure budgets, technology procurement, vendor renewals, and asset lifecycle planning while ensuring cost-effective utilisation of IT resources
Stakeholder Support and Communication
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, implementation partners, and vendors to manage project timelines, dependencies, risks, and operational deliverables during implementation phases.
- Provide responsive first- and second-line technical support to staff, students, and parents, ensuring excellent service and timely resolution of technical issues.
- Deliver onboarding and induction support for all new staff, including account setup, system access, device configuration, and training on platforms such as Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, secure access, and IT services.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and leaders to support the effective integration of technology into teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
- Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors, Internet Service Providers, system integrators, contractors, and service providers, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), timely issue resolution, and successful delivery of infrastructure projects and support services
- Support staff training and digital upskilling to ensure confidence and consistency in the use of school systems and technologies.
- Communicate technical matters clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Monitor and optimise the performance, availability, capacity, and reliability of network infrastructure, servers, cloud services, storage, Internet connectivity, and critical IT services to ensure high operational availability.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records relating to IT support requests, system implementation, incidents, and asset management.
- Support the preparation of reports, documentation, and audits related to technology provision, compliance, and school readiness.
- Analyse trends in support requests and system performance to proactively identify improvements and mitigate risks.
- Contribute to business continuity planning through effective system monitoring, backup processes, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Manage IT service management processes, including incident management, service delivery monitoring, operational reporting, and documentation.
Cybersecurity, Safeguarding and Compliance
- Support endpoint management and compliance across Apple and mobile device ecosystems using enterprise device management platforms such as JAMF and Microsoft Intune.
- Uphold the highest standards of cybersecurity by implementing secure systems, access controls, endpoint protection, filtering, monitoring, and network security measures.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are supported through the implementation and maintenance of appropriate digital monitoring and filtering systems in line with school policies and local requirements.
- Ensure all IT systems and data management practices comply with relevant data protection, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Establish and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to minimise risk and ensure continuity of operations.
- Promote awareness of cybersecurity, digital safeguarding, and responsible technology use through staff guidance and training.
- Model professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct while maintaining confidentiality and data security.
- Manage firewall policies, VPN access, network monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and security incident response.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and organisational security policies.
- Perform periodic security audits, patch management, and infrastructure health checks.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the resilience and availability of critical IT services
The Person
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Network Administration, or Enterprise IT Operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure within educational institutions or similarly complex enterprise environments is highly desirable. Experience supporting new campus deployments or large-scale infrastructure projects is an advantage.
- Strong experience managing enterprise network infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, virtualization, cybersecurity, backup solutions, and endpoint management.
- Experience with networking, device management, audiovisual systems, cybersecurity, and cloud-based technologies.
- Experience managing third-party vendors, implementation partners, and IT procurement processes.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, data protection, and IT security best practice.
- Professional certifications in enterprise networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft technologies, or IT service management (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, Azure, Microsoft 365, ITIL) are preferred.
