Position: IT Asset Mangement Specialist
Location: Bangalore
Workmode: Full-Time, Hybrid/Onsite
Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented IT Asset Management (ITAM) Specialist to manage and optimize the lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets across the organization. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate asset inventories, coordinating procurement, asset check-in/check-out, deployment, transfers, and secure disposal processes while ensuring compliance with software licensing agreements and company policies. The candidate will work closely with IT, procurement, finance, and end users to resolve inventory discrepancies, support audits, generate asset reports, and improve asset management processes. Experience with IT asset and endpoint management tools such as Device42, Microsoft Intune, and SOTI MobiControl is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with experience in IT asset lifecycle management and inventory control.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Manage end-to-end lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets including procurement, deployment, transfers, check-in/check-out, and secure disposal.
- Inventory Control: Conduct regular asset audits, resolve inventory discrepancies, and ensure all assets are accurately tagged and recorded in the asset management system.
- Procurement Coordination: Coordinate with procurement and finance for hardware and software purchases; validate receipts, update records, and ensure timely deployment to end users.
- Software License Compliance: Monitor software licensing agreements, track usage and renewals, and ensure compliance with vendor terms to avoid under-licensing or overspend.
- Asset Deployment & Transfers: Oversee device provisioning and deployment for staff; manage asset transfers between departments and locations with proper documentation.
- Secure Disposal: Coordinate secure decommissioning and disposal of end-of-life IT assets in line with data security and environmental compliance standards.
- Reporting & Analytics: Generate asset reports and dashboards for IT, finance, and leadership; provide insights on asset utilization and cost optimization.
- Audit Support: Support internal and external IT audits with accurate asset data and documentation; proactively identify and remediate gaps in asset records.
- Process Improvement: Evaluate and improve asset management processes and policies; drive adoption of best practices across IT and end-user teams.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with IT, procurement, finance, and end users to address asset-related queries and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Required Skillset
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years in IT asset management, inventory control, or IT operations with ownership of asset lifecycle processes.
- Asset Management Tools: Proficiency in platforms such as Device42 or ServiceNow ITAM; experience with Microsoft Intune and SOTI MobiControl.
- Inventory & Auditing: Experience conducting IT asset audits, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining accurate hardware and software inventory records.
- Software License Management: Understanding of licensing models (perpetual, subscription, concurrent) with ability to track compliance and manage vendor renewals.
- Reporting & Data: Proficiency in asset reporting using Excel or Power BI; ability to analyze data and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Process & Documentation: Ability to document asset management procedures and maintain audit-ready records and compliance documentation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills with ability to coordinate across IT, procurement, finance, and non-technical end users.
Additional / Nice-to-Have Skillsets
- Experience with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or Freshservice.
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework and its application to asset and configuration management.
- Knowledge of data sanitization standards and secure hardware disposal regulations.
- Experience in a multi-site or global IT environment with large-scale asset inventories.
