🚨 IMPORTANT: IN-PERSON & TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
This internship is 100% on-site at our HQ in Virginia Beach and on location. REMOTE applicants will not be considered. While many programs have moved to "Zoom internships," we believe elite skills are forged in the room and on the set. Please do not apply if you are seeking remote or hybrid work or if you do not have the flexibility to travel.
The IRONCLAD Experience
Most film internships involve sitting in a remote home office or running coffee for a crew that doesn't know your name. This is not that (except for maybe the coffee part… someone has to keep the crew caffeinated).
- Location: 100% On-Site at the IRONCLAD HQ and on-set locations.
- Workload: Technical; On-Set Production; Department Support.
- Mentorship: Direct Direction from Directors, DPs, and In-House Producers.
- Impact: Your hustle ensures the "architecture" of the shoot holds up under pressure.
Terms & Compensation
- Duration: Up to 12 weeks (Summer Series).
- Commitment: Average 10–12 hours per week. Note: This is production—hours are irregular. You might work 24 hours one week during a heavy shoot (including travel) and 8 hours the next. Flexibility is mandatory.
- Compensation: This is a non-monetary position. Compensation is provided in the form of valuable hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and portfolio building.
- College Credit: We will gladly work with your institution to provide College Credits where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
On-Set Execution & Support
- The "Extra Hand": Act as a high-level Production Assistant (PA) across all departments. You will be integrated into the workflow to support camera, audio, lighting, and/or DIT.
- Department Immersion: Under direct supervision, assist with lens changes, lighting adjustments, mic'ing up talent, or offloading footage (DIT).
- Set Logistics: Maintain the "architecture" of the shoot—managing gear staging, talent needs, and set organization so the lead creatives can focus on the frame.
- Field Production: Travel with the team to out-of-town locations, operating lean and professional in various, high-pressure environments.
Required Proficiencies
Tools & Software
- Gear Foundation: A basic understanding and interest in camera systems (Sony/RED/ARRI), grip/lighting equipment, and audio gear is a plus.
- Communication: Proficiency in general communication for real-time on-set coordination.
- The "Sponge" Factor: You must be able to take direct feedback and pivot your movements as the shoot evolves.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Culture Fit: You are a positive, solution-oriented person who is a joy to have on set.
- Punctual & Reliable: On-set call times are absolute. If you are on time, you are late.
- Physical Stamina: You must be comfortable being on your feet, moving gear, and working in various environments (studios, outdoors, etc.).
- Adaptability: You thrive in a schedule that shifts based on the needs of the production.
How To Apply

If you aren't ready to be in the trenches with us at HQ and on the road, don't apply.
