Covering iQ sites UK wide, the Head of Health & Safety will support the delivery of the iQ fire, building and health & safety strategies. The role requires knowledge and experience of fire, health and safety management, regulatory requirements, provision of operational system implementation, an understanding of business operational impacts and demands, effective communication and organisational skills, effective team management, cross-functional working and reporting to senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support the delivery of the annual H&S plan across the team and iQ sites to ensure continued compliance to fire, building and health & safety legislation.
  • Manage the Regional Health & Safety function including objective setting, performance review, support and day to day management.
  • Build relationships cross-functionally ensuring prioritised and focussed work with the Operations and Estates Teams.
  • Manage the H&S policy review programme, working with key stakeholders and Primary Authority Partners to deliver suitable and sufficient, legally compliant policies, risk assessment, monitoring and review regimes of defined H&S standards.
  • Oversee, support and advise suitable and sufficient mitigations and resolutions to emerging risks, incidents and remedial actions supporting specific teams and meetings.
  • Carry out incident investigations and liaise with third parties where required.
  • Ensure required preparations for regulatory inspections including communications, correspondence and management of identified remedial actions.
  • Escalate deviations from policies and arising concerns relating to fire, health and safety standards, potential liability claims and regulatory matters when identified, to the relevant persons including Site Operations Managers, Regional Managers, central teams and the Health & Safety Director without delay.
  • Prepare and present on safety performance reports to peers and the senior leadership team.
  • Maintain personal and relevant fire and health and safety professional development.
  • Support regional managers in the delivery of training, risk assessment and audit programmes.
  • Carry out other fire, health and safety duties required by the business where required.

Experience:


  • Working in or with a large multi-site business.
  • Working in or with a relevant regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of fire and health and safety legislation.
  • Undertaking risk assessment and audit programmes.
  • Delivering fire or health and safety briefings or training.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders in developing and implementing effective operational policies.

Qualifications:


  • Fire Risk Assessment (FPA or equivalent).
  • Membership to a fire safety body.
  • Environmental Health degree, Fire or Health & Safety Diploma or equivalent level qualification.
  • Minimum Graduate membership to IOSH.

We operate a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home / site location.
