About the role
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to undertake a leadership role in TechPAD, an initiative of SAMRIDH Impact Solutions, for Government Affairs & Policy. This role involves leading regulatory and government affairs strategy, building strong networks and sustainable relationships with high-level stakeholders and policy makers, and positioning TechPAD as a key player in healthcare policy discussions of strategic importance.
SAMRIDH Impact Solutions (SIS), a subsidiary of IPE Global, enhances private sector participation in addressing crucial socio-economic challenges across developing markets by connecting enterprises, investors, and donors. TechPAD initiative aims to bolster the growth of healthcare technology solutions by fostering ideation; conducting rigorous technical, clinical, and commercial validations; supporting regulatory certifications and compliance; offering market access opportunities; providing business advisory support; and securing funding for sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal Activities:
Design and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy for TechPAD-supported entities—both Indian-origin and foreign entities entering India—ensuring alignment with business objectives and securing endorsement for the initiative.
Design, lead, and manage Government Affairs plans/projects, and integrating them with communications and other functions.
Provide expert counsel on opportunities and risks presented by government policies relevant to identified entities, product teams, and senior management.
Ensure regular engagement with business team and board to create an integrated government affairs strategy.
Incorporate Government Affairs considerations into the evaluation and screening of entities within the TechPAD business plan process.
Monitor and interpret government policies on health, economy, science, and innovation, identifying their impact on businesses and shaping proactive engagement strategies.
Develop briefing documents outlining policy issues for each clinical area, ensuring consistent messaging when engaging with external stakeholders.
Select and manage Public Affairs agencies (if needed) to support government affairs initiatives, evaluating their services against industry standards.
Develop an engagement program for other TechPAD executives to facilitate interactions with key central and state government policymakers.
External Relationships:
Engage with high-level stakeholders, policy makers and advisors to discuss policy gaps and explore opportunities for bridging these gaps through TechPAD supported entities.
Build strong networks and relationships with the stakeholders including but not limited to academicians, industry bodies and think tank groups etc.
Identify key policy influencers across various clinical priority areas and establish relationships to facilitate informed policy discussions.
Represent TechPAD in external forums, conferences, and government-led policy dialogues, advocating for the adoption of innovative medical devices.
Organize events such as policy roundtables, debates, and seminars with relevant stakeholders to promote discussions on industry challenges and solutions.
Stay up to date with policy developments and emerging trends, attending political conferences and industry conventions as needed.
Work with the communications and public affairs team to develop consistent messaging and build strong partnerships with media, patient organizations, and advocacy groups.
Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree in public policy, political science, healthcare management, or a related field.
Deep expertise and knowledge of government policy trends in healthcare, medical devices, life sciences innovation and regulatory frameworks.
Open to allocating up to 30% of their time for national travel as per initiative and organizational requirements.
Specialist experience in at least two of the following areas: MedTech industry policy, NHM structures, Health Technology Assessment, health or industrial economics.
Proven track record in government and public affairs, policy and, with significant experience in policy advocacy.
High-level communication and negotiation skills to engage with senior policymakers and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage stakeholder networks, including government bodies, policymakers, and industry associations.
Experience in managing public affairs agencies and overseeing strategic projects.
Ability to analyse, interpret, and influence policy discussions and regulatory decisions in favour of TechPAD-supported entities.
