The Intellectual Property Team of Atlas Copco India Private Ltd (GECIA) is responsible for the protection of different aspects of Intellectual Property of the business areas Compressor Technique, Power Technique, Vacuum Technique and Industrial Technique and the divisions making part thereof with their subsidiaries/product Companies across the world. Atlas Copco (GECIA) is looking for an eligible candidate for the profile of IP Analyst for Pune Location.
IP Analyst are unique individuals who combine a deep knowledge of a technical area with a good understanding of intellectual property laws. We are looking for confident team players with strong technical and analytical skills, who can effectively manage various tasks and responsibilities and prioritize workflow in order to meet strict deadlines. The main responsibilities of an IP Analyst will include conducting patent and non-patent literature searches including patentability searches, invalidity searches, clearance searches and other searches. Providing insightful analysis of search results from various sources by preparing and delivering timely, value-added patent search reports based on in-house established patent search procedures.
Your day-to-day
- Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identification and protection of different forms of Intellectual Property created by product companies across various business areas.
- Support product teams by conducting, advising, and providing opinions on patent analytics, including patentability searches, FTO (freedom-to-operate), infringement and clearance analysis, validity/invalidity searches, prior art, state-of-the-art, and non-patent literature searches.
- Perform technology landscape and white-space analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze competitors’ intellectual property activities to identify potential risks and opportunities through patent watch activities.
- Work hands-on with patent databases and tools such as Questel Orbit, Minesoft Patbase, Derwent, and Espacenet, ensuring timely project execution.
- Collaborate with IP teams within the Atlas Copco Group to execute IP-related initiatives effectively.
- Provide IP awareness training and develop educational materials within the organization.
Experience Requirements
Your skills and experience
- 2 to 3 years of prior experience with the ability to independently manage patent search and analytics projects, including prior art searches, IP risk mitigation, FTO (freedom-to-operate) studies, invalidity searches, and IP/technology landscape analysis, along with competitor monitoring activities.
- Experience in drafting provisional and non-provisional patent applications will be considered an added advantage.
- Exposure to drafting responses to the First Examination Report (FER) is desirable and will strengthen the candidature.
- Good understanding of applicable Intellectual Property laws and regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office tools for documentation, reporting, and analysis purposes.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical), Physics, or equivalent technical background through experience.
- Additional certifications or qualifications related to Intellectual Property will be advantageous.
- Qualification as an Indian Patent Agent will be a strong plus.
