About The Role
This is a temporary position to cover various employee leaves throughout the 2026-2027 school year. This position will provide high quality speech and language to eligible students either individually or in groups. Function as a member of the multidisciplinary team, analyzes and interprets data, and participates in the process of identifying students for speech and/or language services.
Qualifications Desired
- Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and
- Valid License via LARA as a Speech and Language Pathologist
- Interpersonal skills which promote positive personal relationships with students, parents, staff and community is required

Job Description
JOB TITLE: Speech & Language Pathologist Substitute - Temporary
DEPARTMENT: Special Education
REPORTS TO: Administrator for Accountability & Program Improvement
WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned by Supervisor
REPLACEMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree in speech and language pathology, and
• License via LARA as a speech and language pathologist;
• Ability to accurately assess students in the areas of expressive and receptive language,
and appropriately provide respective services;
• Interpersonal skills which promote positive personal relationships with students, parents,
staff and community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Regular and consistent attendance;
• Provide meaningful therapy sessions consistent with IEPT recommendations;
• Follow through on written referrals by completing evaluations within established time
constraints;
• Submit thorough and well written reports and other assignments in a timely manner;
• Provide meaningful oral reports at IEPT meetings, Parent/Teacher conferences and other
school functions;
• Maintain open communication with parents, providing them with relevant information
and suggestions for follow through;
• Provide classroom teachers with information and suggestions relative to:
o Individual therapy follow-through;
o General language stimulation activities and approaches;
• Demonstrate competency in behavioral management and maintain control of students
assigned to his/her care;
• Participate in, and occasionally assist in the organization of meetings, committees, and
special functions;
• Maintain a positive and open communication with parents, staff, and administration;
• Conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a positive image during the work day
and at all work-related activities;

• Completes required paperwork in a timely manner (e.g. IEPs, IEP progress reports, MET cover
sheets, Medicaid billing)
• Abide by all District policies and procedures, and demonstrate competencies specified in
the Michigan Special Education Rules and Regulations;
• All other related duties as assigned.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to interpret, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions in order to
perform duties described above.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
• High level of discretion and integrity

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The substitute may be expected to travel to the Intermediate School District, professional
