Type: Full-Time
Location: Onsite (Bangalore)
Role Summary
We are looking for someone who can do two things equally well: keep ARTPARK's deep-tech investment pipeline sharp and well-documented, and produce the research and knowledge products that inform our strategy and build our external credibility.
In a typical week, you might start by writing an investment thesis on the opportunity in Counter Drone Systems, move into evaluating a set of incoming IiR deal applications mid-week, and close the week updating portfolio trackers, dashboards and finalising paperwork for a recently approved investment. This role is deliberately broad — designed for people who resist narrow specialisation and want to operate close to where decisions are made.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Research & Thought Leadership
- Track developments in AI, robotics, deep-tech startups, government innovation policy and the India funding landscape
- Produce intelligence briefs, landscape analyses and market maps for internal decision-making
- Research and compile sector data, statistics and case studies to support grant proposals and fundraising
- Maintain a live database of funding opportunities, government schemes and program deadlines
- Support production of ARTPARK's annual deep-tech report, whitepapers and newsletters
- Prepare presentation decks, one-pagers and capability documents for leadership and external stakeholders
- Compile data and narratives for board reports and government partner presentations
Investment Operations — IiR Program
- Source and screen deep-tech startup and innovator applications through ARTPARK's ecosystem, IISc networks and accelerator channels
- Maintain a live deal pipeline CRM — accurate status, notes and next actions at all times
- Coordinate the diligence process — schedule expert reviews, track documentation, prepare evaluation summaries and investment memos
- Manage diligence documents — MoU templates, grant letter frameworks, expert liaison
- Maintain the IiR portfolio MIS — grantee milestones, disbursements and KPIs
- Prepare quarterly portfolio review reports and board update materials
- Coordinate with grantees on compliance documentation, milestone submissions and reporting
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must have
- 1–3 years of work experience in VC / investment analysis, strategy consulting, or research-intensive roles
- Strong analytical skills — ability to evaluate technology, team and market dimensions of early-stage ventures
- Excellent written communication — investment memos, landscape reports and stakeholder presentations require clear, structured writing
- Comfort with data — sourcing, verifying and synthesising quantitative and qualitative information
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Genuine intellectual curiosity about deep technology, India's innovation ecosystem and the research-to-startup journey
Good to have
- Engineering degree (B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech) — technical background strengthens credibility when evaluating deep-tech deals; strong candidates from other disciplines with demonstrated technology understanding will equally be considered
- Prior exposure to AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing, biotech or adjacent deep-tech fields
- Experience with startup evaluation, technology due diligence or research commercialisation
- Familiarity with India's government funding landscape — DST, SERB, MeitY, NSDC, NITI Aayog
- Experience with deal tracking tools — Tracxn, Notion, Airtable or similar
- Prior affiliation with IISc, IIT, IISER or a research-linked startup ecosystem
- Visual communication skills — charts, data visualisations, clean presentation layouts
Who are you
- Self-starter you take ownership of your work without waiting to be told what to do next, and you bring your own point of view to every assignment
- Operates with velocity— you move fast, meet deadlines without compromising quality, and know how to prioritise when everything feels urgent
- Strong upward communicator— you can distil complex research or deal updates into crisp, structured summaries for senior stakeholders and external partners
- Comfortable with ambiguity— ARTPARK is an early-stage function; you will often be the first person to define a process or produce a format, and that energises rather than unsettles you
- Detail-oriented without losing the plot— you maintain accurate trackers and clean documentation while staying connected to the bigger picture of what each investment or report is trying to achieve
- Collaborative but independent— you work well across a small, cross-functional team but can also put your head down and deliver alone when needed
- Intellectually restless— you read widely, follow technology developments with genuine curiosity, and bring external ideas into your work
Work location
- This role is based at the ARTGarage Facility, Jalahalli, Bengaluru — candidates must be located in Bengaluru or willing to relocate
- Minimum 3 days per week in-office is required; candidates who are open to working from office all 5 days will be preferred
WHY ARTPARK
- Work inside IISc Bengaluru — access to India's most advanced deep-tech research, faculty and startup ecosystem
- Small team, real ownership — your work reaches the leadership team, board and government partners directly, not in 3 years
- Breadth by design — investments and research in one role is unusual at this experience level; most analysts get one or the other
- Mission-driven — you are helping determine which deep-tech companies get a chance to grow and which people get skilled for the jobs of the future
- Bengaluru-based, on-site at one of India's most intellectually stimulating campuses
