Job Function – 

Manages an effective collateral valuation program for all residential real estate lending activity in adherence to all applicable federal and state regulations.  Conducts retrospective compliance and technical desk reviews of residential appraisals ensuring adherence with bank guidelines and Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Supports general workflow of appraisal department. 

  

Job Responsibilities – 

            Determines project scope and engages residential appraisers appropriate for the transaction in accordance with internal policy and procedures as well as federal and state regulation.

            Conducts reviews of appraisals and evaluations upon receipt while documenting findings/deficiencies prior to accepting the appraisal/evaluation. Communicates directly with appraiser in conjunction with such review on an as needed basis.   

            Conducts reviews of in-house valuations and validity checks to identify any typos, errors, or lack of documentation prior to accepting report. Communicate directly with preparer in conjuction with such review.

            Continues education by attending job related and timely courses/seminars, reading pertinent industry publications, and networking with peers and experts in the real estate profession.

            Supports workflow management of Appraisal Department. 

            Plans, organizes, and directs a system for quality control of appraisal services.

            Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

            Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Related Experience – 

•          2+ years experience in residential credit analytics or equivalent work experience required.

•          Bachelor's degree preferred with an preferred emphasis on Finance/Accounting or any business related field.

 

Skills and Abilities – 

•          Must follow the bank’s established appraisal policy guidelines.  

•          Must possess knowledge of computers and computer operations MS Office software. 

•          Must be proficient in MS Excel

•          Must possess knowledge of standard office equipment including computer, ten key adding machine, scanner and copy machine.

•          Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.

•          Must possess good organizational skills.

•          Must possess ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy.

•          Must possess decision making skills.

•          Must possess a high degree of initiative.

•          Must possess and keep current on industry knowledge and practices as it relates to the position.

 

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements – 

•          Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.

•          Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.

•          Ability to read and interpret a document.

•          Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.

•          Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.  If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.
