Job Title: Stock Auditor (Retail – Supermarket Chain)
Department: Operations / Audit
Reporting To: Operations Head / Finance Controller
Job Summary
The Stock Auditor is responsible for ensuring accurate inventory management across all supermarket outlets. The role involves conducting regular stock audits, identifying discrepancies, ensuring compliance with inventory procedures, and supporting loss prevention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Audit & Verification
Conduct daily/weekly/monthly physical stock audits across outlets
Verify stock against system records (ERP/POS)
Identify shortages, excess stock, and mismatches
Ensure proper SKU-level tracking
2. Process Compliance
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for stock handling
Monitor GRN (Goods Receipt Note) and inward processes
Check FIFO/FEFO compliance (especially for FMCG/perishables)
3. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare audit reports with variance analysis
Highlight critical issues such as shrinkage, pilferage, or process gaps
Submit reports to management with actionable insights
4. Loss Prevention
Identify inventory leakages, damages, and theft risks
Recommend corrective measures to reduce stock loss
Work closely with store managers for implementation
5. Coordination
Coordinate with:
1.Store Managers
2.Warehouse team
3.Purchase & Finance teams
Support stock reconciliation during monthly closing
6. System & Data Accuracy
Ensure proper use of inventory management systems (ERP/POS)
Validate barcode accuracy and product mapping
Monitor stock aging and slow-moving items
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Inventory accuracy %
Reduction in stock variance
Shrinkage control
Audit completion timelines
Compliance score across stores
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting / Business Administration
2–5 years of experience in retail audit / inventory control (preferably supermarket/FMCG)
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of inventory management systems
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Basic knowledge of Excel / reporting tools
Ability to travel between multiple store locations
Preferred Skills:
Experience in supermarket or retail chain operations
Familiarity with barcode systems & ERP software (like SAP, Tally, Zoho, etc.)
Understanding of perishable goods handling
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel between outlets in and around Kanchipuram
Flexible working hours during audit cycles
