Trident Consulting is seeking an Inventory Accountant for one of our clients in Pune.
Job Title: Inventory Accountant
Location: Pune, India
Type: Full-time
Role Purpose
Reporting to the ISC Controller, the Inventory Accountant will provide business partnering support to the Financial Planning Analyst, Operations Finance Manager, and ISC Controller, ensuring accurate inventory accounting, reporting, and analysis to support operational and financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and review inventory transactions, including stock adjustments, free issue, and blocked stock, to ensure accuracy and control.
- Prepare and analyse daily and weekly inventory KPIs to support operational performance tracking.
- Perform month-end inventory reporting and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory accounts.
- Calculate and report inventory provisions in line with company policies and accounting standards.
- Support month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial submissions.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business requirements.
- Support inventory forecasting activities for monthly and quarterly planning cycles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Planning, and Logistics to improve inventory accuracy and processes.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and ensure adherence to internal controls and policies.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions preferred)
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Pursuing professional accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, TM1)
- Prior experience in inventory accounting or operations finance
Functional Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
- Understanding of inventory accounting principles and financial controls
- Experience in reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis
Desirable:
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Exposure to SAP or similar ERP systems
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional stakeholders
Performance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, risk assessments, and EHS procedures
- Report incidents, risks, and issues as per company guidelines
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, accountability, and workplace organization
