Position Summary

IMCOR is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee and optimize procurement, warehouse, and delivery operations in support of mechanical construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring a seamless supply of materials through strong vendor partnerships, efficient scheduling, and Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery coordination.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, negotiation skills, and operational expertise to support project timelines and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Source and qualify vendors for plumbing parts, pipe, steel, sheet metal fabrication, tools, and equipment
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings
  • Coordinate vendor kitting, labeling, and JIT delivery schedules
  • Perform comparison shopping and identify cost-reduction opportunities, including outsourcing
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships and vendor-managed inventory programs

Operations & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Ensure seamless material flow for construction projects through accurate scheduling and expediting
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations
  • Plan and track in-house fabrication, including expediting and kitting based on JIT schedules
  • Coordinate deliveries aligned with project timelines
  • Manage inventory levels and conduct regular audits

 

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and develop a team of 10+ employees across purchasing, warehouse, and delivery functions
  • Provide day-to-day direction, performance management, and wage reviews
  • Work closely with Foremen and Managers to align resources, priorities, and problem-solving efforts
  • Support ongoing project execution through effective communication and decision-making

Administrative & Reporting

  • Review purchase orders, bid summaries, and vendor correspondence
  • Prepare and present purchasing proposals and support contract implementation
  • Maintain accurate data entry and tracking systems

Additional Duties

  • Expedite materials with short lead times to maintain project continuity
  • Ensure availability of consumables and critical materials
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain operations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement management (mechanical or construction industry preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Experience with inventory control, tracking systems, and logistics coordination
  • Proficiency in data entry and systems management
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems (preferred)
  • Lean Construction experience (a plus)
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
