The Computational Technology and Medicine Laboratory (CMT Lab) of the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay, invites applications for an Internship Position in Biomedical Device Development. The selected candidate will work on the design, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of low-cost biomedical device prototypes.
Stipend: ₹12,000–₹15,000 per month, depending on experience and fit
Duration: A minimum commitment of 6 months is required
Eligibility
Applicants should be pursuing or have completed a B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech/M.E. degree in one of the following areas:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Instrumentation
- Related engineering disciplines
Candidates should have a strong interest in hands-on experimental work and biomedical device development.
Desired Skills
Prior experience in one or more of the following areas will be useful:
- Fluid mechanics
- Pressure/flow measurements
- Vibrations and oscillations
- CAD and mechanical design
- 3D printing and prototype fabrication
- Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms
- Sensor calibration and data acquisition
- Experimental documentation and troubleshooting
Nature of Work
Biomedical device development involves repeated prototype testing, failed trials, cleaning and setting up experiments, calibration, data logging, and careful troubleshooting. Candidates should be comfortable with hands-on laboratory work and systematic documentation.
Accommodation
On-campus hostel accommodation is not available. Selected candidates must arrange their own off-campus accommodation. Applicants with a guardian/relative in Mumbai may mention this in the form.
