Company Description
At Watt Wave, we are committed to transforming the way electric vehicles charge through innovative Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology. Our goal is to design and develop a fully autonomous EV battery charging system capable of seamless charging in both static and dynamic conditions, without any physical connection between the vehicle and the power supply.
We are looking for interns and entry-level engineers based on their practical experience, creativity, and problem-solving skills, rather than just academic grades. Candidates who have worked on mechanical projects, robotics, or CAD design competitions will be preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design enclosures, coil mounts, cooling structures, and mechanical assemblies for wireless EV chargers.
- Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent tools.
- Participate in concept development, prototyping, and design iterations.
- Perform structural analysis (FEA) to ensure mechanical robustness.
- Optimize components for thermal performance, material efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Assist in 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, and hands-on prototype assembly.
- Troubleshoot design issues based on feedback from lab testing and real-world conditions.
- Collaborate with electronics, firmware, and coil design teams to ensure smooth integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure all designs meet IP rating, thermal, and mechanical durability requirements for field deployment.
- Maintain detailed design documentation, BOMs, and version control.
- Present progress in regular design reviews and suggest creative improvements.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Basic experience with CAD tools like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or AutoCAD.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with 3D printing, sheet metal, or fabrication methods is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn, experiment, and work hands-on with hardware.
- Good communication and team collaboration skills.
- Bonus: Exposure to FEA, thermal design, or projects related to EVs, robotics, or wireless systems.
What We Offer
- Work on cutting-edge wireless EV charging systems and gain hands-on exposure to real engineering challenges.
- Get guidance from experienced engineers and founders with deep domain expertise in WPT, power electronics, and mechanical design.
- Be part of the full product cycle — from concept to design, fabrication, testing, and iteration.
- Strong performers may be considered for full-time roles, early team positions, or referrals to other high-impact startups.
- Join a startup environment that values creativity, experimentation, and solution-driven thinking.
- Competitive stipends and potential full-time offers based on performance.
Interested candidates can apply by sending their resume along with a brief statement about their interest, project details or anything relevant in this role to chinmay@wattwave.in
