Job details:
ZestIoT Technologies builds intelligent software for aviation ground operations. Our IoT layer is the foundation of real-time equipment tracking — powering arrival and departure detection, equipment connectivity events, and conveyor loading/unloading insights across airports worldwide.
We are looking for a hands-on IoT Engineer to own the full lifecycle of our IoT devices — from assembly and configuration to customer deployment and ongoing health monitoring. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and customer success.
Key Responsibilities
Device Assembly & Readiness
- Assemble and configure IoT devices using Teltonika, SICK, and local magnetic sensor hardware
- Flash firmware, apply device configurations, and validate device functionality before dispatch
- Maintain device inventory, spares, and readiness checklists
Deployment & Customer Installation
- Coordinate with customer site teams for scheduled IoT device installations
- Conduct remote and on-site installation support, ensuring devices are correctly mounted and connected
- Validate successful installation by confirming data flow, event triggers, and integration with ZestIoT platform
Device Mapping & Configuration
- Perform equipment-to-device mapping (flights, GSE, conveyor belts) in the ZestIoT platform
- Configure arrival/departure detection parameters and connectivity thresholds per customer requirements
- Maintain up-to-date configuration records for all deployed devices across customer sites
Device Health & Monitoring
- Monitor real-time and historical device health dashboards — connectivity, battery, signal strength, event accuracy
- Proactively identify and resolve device anomalies, outages, or misconfiguration
- Coordinate RMA, replacement, or remote reconfiguration for faulty devices
- Maintain SLA-aligned response times for device issues reported by customers or detected internally
Data & Automation
- Write Python scripts for data parsing, device log analysis, automated health checks, and bulk configuration tasks
- Assist in building internal tools to streamline device provisioning and monitoring workflows
- Contribute to event validation — ensuring arrival/departure, connection/disconnection, and loading/unloading events are accurate
Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain detailed installation guides, device runbooks, and troubleshooting playbooks
- Liaise between engineering, product, and customer success teams on IoT issues and improvements
- Track all device deployment and health status in internal systems
Required Skills & Qualifications
IoT & Hardware
- Hands-on experience with IoT hardware assembly, configuration, and field deployment
- Familiarity with industrial IoT vendors — Teltonika (FMB/TFT series), SICK sensors, or equivalent
- Understanding of device communication protocols: MQTT, TCP/IP, RS-232/485, CAN bus, or BLE
- Experience with GPS tracking, proximity/magnetic sensors, or industrial edge devices
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform basic hardware troubleshooting
Python & Software
- Proficiency in Python (2+ years) — scripting, automation, data parsing
- Experience working with REST APIs, JSON payloads, and log files
- Comfort with Linux/CLI environments for device management and debugging
- Basic database querying (SQL) for health monitoring and event validation
- Familiarity with version control (Git) is a plus
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Customer-facing communication skills — clear, professional, and proactive
- Strong ownership mindset — able to manage tasks end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple device deployments simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving processes
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for deployment and support when needed
Good to Have
- Experience in aviation, airport operations, or logistics/fleet tracking domains
- Exposure to cloud IoT platforms — AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or similar
- Knowledge of conveyor belt systems, baggage handling, or GSE (Ground Support Equipment)
- Experience with dashboarding tools — Grafana, Kibana, or equivalent for device monitoring
- Prior experience supporting enterprise customer deployments or installations
Why ZestIoT
- Work on real IoT at the edge — airports, aircraft, and ground equipment across global locations
- Small team, high ownership — your work directly impacts customer experience
- Exposure to the full stack — hardware, platform, and customer-facing product
- Fast-moving startup with strong domain depth in aviation ground operations
