Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an International Rice Trader based in Ahmedabad. The International Rice Trader will manage end-to-end trading activities, including sourcing rice from domestic and international suppliers, negotiating purchase and sales contracts, and executing trades in line with company strategy and risk policies. Responsibilities include monitoring global rice markets, analyzing price trends, managing inventory positions, and coordinating logistics, documentation, and shipment schedules with internal teams and external partners. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with exporters, importers, brokers, and financial institutions, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant trade regulations, quality standards, and contract terms. The trader will also prepare regular reports on trade performance, market developments, and risk exposure, and contribute to strategic decisions on new markets and product opportunities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in agri-commodity trading, preferably in rice or related grains, with strong understanding of international trade practices.
- Solid knowledge of global rice markets, pricing mechanisms, trade flows, and key importing/exporting regions.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and deal-structuring skills, with attention to pricing, terms, and risk mitigation.
- Experience coordinating logistics, shipping, and export-import documentation (e.g., LC handling, BL, invoices, packing lists, quality certificates).
- Ability to analyze market data, prepare trade and P&L reports, and use spreadsheets or trading tools for decision-making.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with suppliers, buyers, banks, and internal teams.
- Understanding of risk management, hedging concepts, and basic exposure to commodity derivatives or futures markets is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field; a master’s degree or relevant certifications in trade or finance is a plus.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and resilience in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically
