About the role

The National Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Child Labour Platform's activities in India, including these outcomes through specific activities on the ground (most likely within the states of Telangana and Karnataka). Reporting lines The incumbent will report to the Deputy Director of ILO Country Office for India. S/he will receive technical supervision from the Senior Programme and Operations Officer on Supply Chains and Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and Global Coordinator of the Child Labour Platform in Fundamentals. The incumbent will receive technical guidance from the FPRW Specialist in ILO DWT/CO New Delhi and work very closely with other relevant specialists in the DWT Delhi as well as the programme team in Delhi. In addition, s/he will collaborate closely with the Child Labour Platform Secretariat in HQ. Description of Duties -Lead the Secretariat of the Child Labour Platform in India, including its strategic direction and coordination with critical partners at the country level. Develop and roll-out the work-plan, budget and monitoring strategy to ensure effective implementation of the Platform's core services and planned activities in line with donor and funding requirements. -Coordinate CLP's cooperation and coordination with government, employers' and workers' organizations, UN agencies and civil society in the planning and implementation of its core services and activities. Advance strategic collaboration between the Platform and Government's authorities, social partners' organizations, UN agencies, civil society and academia. -Maintain engagement with ILO employer constituents and the wider business community to ensure political support for and ownership of the CLP strategy, core services and activities in India. Actively contribute to CLP membership growth in India, including on the outreach to enterprises. -Identify problems, propose solutions and action and follow-up with relevant specialists and departments at headquarters and regional office, executing agencies, government offices, constituents and other organizations to expedite implementation of CLP's core services and activities and meet targets. -Develop innovative and impactful intervention to address the root causes of child labour in supply chains and promote responsible business conduct across supply chains. ---Provide technical guidance on the elimination of child labour in supply chains with due attention to other fundamental principles and rights at work and the promotion of decent work for adults and youth. Facilitate access to legal and policy advice to CLP members on issues related to identification, prevention and remediation of child labour in supply chains. -Coordinate the design of CLP research, tools and methods so as to support delivery of technical services and activities set out in the work plan and coordinate the contracting of external collaborators in this regard. Ensure the delivery of quality technical inputs, including qualitative and quantitative research in line with ILO core conventions on child labour. -Organize CLP's training programmes and awareness raising activities to improve understanding on child labour elimination, businesses due diligence and responsible business conduct and effective collaboration to tackle its root causes. -Represent the CLP Secretariat in global and national fora under the guidance of the ILO Country Director. Undertake missions, including for the Child Labour Annual meeting, for the purposes advocating for child labour elimination in supply chains and promoting the Platform's core services and activities for CLP members and the business community in India. -Collaborate and work closely with ILO specialists within the ILO, New Delhi, and other colleagues, on specific technical areas requiring comprehensive and collaborative interventions and on the Decent Work Country Programme. -Report, monitor and facilitate the CLP's efforts and impact all project's components according to the work plan and Decent Work Country Programme. Prepare required technical progress reports on the status planning and implementation of CLP core services and activities for submission to members and other partners. -Responsible for the effective administrative management of the project, including guidance and supervision of the personnel assigned to the project. -Promote the inclusion of gender equality and non-discrimination in all the work of the Child Labour Platform. -Other related duties as assigned.
