Job details:
Who Are We
Raptee.HV is a full- stack electric motorcycle startup with a very strong technical moat, founded in 2019 by four engineers from Chennai (Ex Tesla, Wipro), working on bringing a no-compromise upgrade motorcycle to an otherwise scooter- only EV market. Raptee is incubated at CIIC & ARAI.
Role Overview
We are looking for an
Engineering Intern to support our work in
motor control, embedded systems, and electric vehicle software development. This internship is suited for candidates who are interested in control systems, embedded software, and EV powertrain technology.
The intern will work with the motor control team on tasks such as
MATLAB/Simulink modelling, embedded software support, CAN communication, testing, and validation. This role is intended for students who have a strong technical foundation and want hands-on exposure to real-world motor control systems.
What You’ll Do
Motor Control & Modelling Support
- Assist in developing and modifying MATLAB/Simulink models related to motor control.
- Support the team in testing and understanding control strategies such as FOC, torque control, and regenerative braking.
- Help analyze simulation results and compare them with expected system behaviour.
- Contribute to basic model tuning and documentation.
Embedded Systems Support
- Assist with embedded software tasks related to control implementation on microcontrollers.
- Support debugging of timing, scheduling, and interrupt-driven tasks.
- Help with basic software integration activities across control, communication, and diagnostics modules.
- Participate in firmware testing and troubleshooting.
Communication & Integration
- Support development and testing of CAN communication for control and diagnostic messages.
- Help verify sensor signals, control signals, and communication interfaces.
- Work with hardware and firmware teams during integration of controllers and sensors.
Testing & Validation
- Assist in controller testing on bench setups, dynos, or vehicle test environments.
- Record test data, organize results, and support issue investigation.
- Help identify mismatches between simulation, software behaviour, and hardware response.
Documentation
- Maintain clear documentation for models, test observations, software changes, and debugging findings.
- Prepare simple reports, plots, or summaries for design reviews and team discussions.
Who Can Apply?
- Currently pursuing B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Automotive, or Computer Engineering.
- Suitable for third-year or fourth-year students with strong academic fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of electric motors, control systems, or power electronics.
- Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink through coursework, projects, or self-learning.
- Basic understanding of embedded systems or microcontrollers.
- Exposure to C/C++ programming.
- Willingness to learn, experiment, debug, and work hands-on with hardware and software teams.
Nice-to-Have
- Basic understanding of PMSM motors and concepts like FOC.
- Exposure to CAN communication.
- Experience with academic or personal projects involving:
- motor drives
- embedded systems
- robotics
- EVs
- control systems
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, debuggers, or serial/CAN tools.
- Interest in automotive or electric vehicle systems.
What’s In It For You
- Practical exposure to motor control development in an EV environment.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink, embedded software, CAN, and controller testing.
- Understanding of how control algorithms are integrated into real embedded platforms.
- Experience working across software, firmware, hardware, and vehicle-level system teams.
- This internship gives you the opportunity to work on real engineering problems at the intersection of control systems, embedded software, and electric mobility.
- You will gain practical experience in how motor controllers are designed, tested, and integrated into a vehicle platform, while learning from engineers working on production-oriented systems.
- Opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Opportunities for professional advancement as the company undergoes expansion.
- Collaborate closely with seasoned experts in the field.
- Gaining an entry point into the field of automobile development.
