Job Title: Intermediate Electrical Engineer
Experience: 4-7 years
Location: Bangalore
Job Description
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will design and deliver power electronics hardware that integrates closely with firmware, power subsystems, and mechanical assemblies for advanced energy products. This role requires strong hands-on engineering skills and active involvement across the full product development cycle, from schematic design and PCB layout guidance through board bring-up, validation, and design for test and manufacture. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create robust, production-ready designs for high-reliability products used in demanding, long-warranty environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and validation of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for energy products.
- Support the full product lifecycle, including schematic design, layout guidance, board bring-up, laboratory validation, and design for test and manufacturability.
- Contribute to designs for analog signal conditioning, digital interfaces, microcontrollers (MCUs), sensors, and communication buses such as CAN, UART, and RS-485.
- Partner closely with firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver production-ready hardware designs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve product quality and team processes.
- Support team development initiatives by sharing technical knowledge and contributing to best practices.
- Assist with sustaining engineering activities, including design improvements and resolution of field issues as products mature.
- Apply design constraints and considerations related to thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, and manufacturability throughout the design process.
- Prepare and maintain accurate design documentation and support engineering change order (ECO) control processes.
- Contribute to PCB engineering activities, including coordination of fabrication, assembly, thermal management strategies, and connector and cable design.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE).
- 4+ years of experience in power electronics hardware development.
- Strong background in electronics design, embedded systems, and board-level hardware architecture.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with board bring-up, validation, debugging, and use of test tools.
- Familiarity with design constraints related to thermal management, EMC, safety, and manufacturability.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional new product development environments.
- Experience with design documentation and engineering change order (ECO) control processes.
- background in developing high-reliability products for demanding, long-warranty environments.
- Experience in PCB engineering, including fabrication, assembly, thermal management, and connector and cable design.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering fundamentals, including schematic capture and hardware design for PCB-based systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with energy systems, IoT devices, or embedded hardware in regulated environments.
- Exposure to compliance testing such as UL, IEC, and EMC, and familiarity with design transfer to contract manufacturing.
- Experience shipping products at scale, including volumes of 1 million units or more.
- Knowledge of low-power design techniques, sensor integration, and signal integrity optimization.
- Embedded firmware development experience and ability to collaborate closely with firmware engineers.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including stress and strain, one-dimensional thermodynamics, and common manufacturing techniques.
Work Environment
The role operates in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment focused on developing high-reliability energy products. Work involves a mix of office-based design activities and hands-on laboratory tasks such as PCB board bring-up, validation, and debugging using standard electronic test equipment. The engineer will regularly interact with firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams, supporting the full lifecycle of hardware from concept through production and sustaining improvements. The environment emphasizes rigorous design documentation, ECO control, manufacturability, and compliance with thermal, EMC, and safety requirements to support products deployed in demanding, long-warranty applications.
