Overview
Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to assist the MERS Mail Identification Team located in Omaha, NE to timely and accurately process and distribute the incoming electronic mail. Work on-site in an exciting, fast-paced environment interacting daily with the MERS Mail Processing Department. This candidate must be able to make quick decisions knowing when to escalate issues. Will report directly to the Manager of MERS Mail Processing.
The Mail Processing Department is responsible for ensuring that mail and service of process received by MERS as a result of being named as Mortgagee in the public land records is promptly forwarded to the Servicer or Subservicer identified in MERS® System for the relevant MIN Record.
Responsibilities
- The Associate MERS Member Operations Analyst is responsible for researching, classifying, and processing electronic mortgage/legal documents and sending to the appropriate MERS Members
- Review scanned documents for clarity
- Identify, index, and categorize documents
- Monitor and report discrepancies within the documents and report to UNID or QC departments
- Ability to read and understand various types of legal documents such as Lawsuits, Foreclosure, Eminent Domain, and Bankruptcies
- Research county and public records as needed to determine lien positions and legal interests
- Advise mailroom how and where to send documents when physical mail request is needed
- Ensure correct delivery of documents via physical or electronic mail
- Guarantee data privacy practices while performing research on documents
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work with little direction
Knowledge and Experience
- Mortgage/Legal Industry knowledge preferred
- Minimum of 6 months’ mortgage or related experience preferred
- Extensive problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills
- Time management
- Proficiency in desktop enterprise systems (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint, and TEAMS)
- Maintain production requirements as defined in the client’s Service Level Agreement
- Critical thinking and problem solving
