About the Role:

We seek a curious and motivated Backend Software Engineer specialised in building scalable backend platforms. The platform you build will bring novel functionality to millions of IoT customers and users. Our core beliefs are to engineer for scalability, performance, flexibility, security and simplicity for our customers and users. You will also learn about the exponentially growing EV industry and various IoT applications. 

Responsibilities:

With us, you’re the captain of your ship! In this role, you'll tackle the following:

1. Platform Development: Design and develop Intellicar's next-generation IoT platform.
2. System Architecture: Participate in system architecture design, end-to-end implementation, microservices, and full product development.
3. Infrastructure Scaling: Scale software and hardware tools for the entire engineering organisation while ensuring reliability.
4. Containerisation and Services: Build infrastructure components and services using Docker/Kubernetes containers.
5. API Development: Create APIs between applications and internal/external design software.
6. Collaboration for Improvements: Collaborate across teams for architectural enhancements to expedite engineering design iterations.

Requirements:

1. Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
2. Programming Skills: Proficiency in Go Lang or Java; Python/Perl/Shell scripting is beneficial.
3. Queue Systems: Knowledge of at least one distributed queuing system like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, etc.
4. Data Processing: Experience with scalable map-reduce systems (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Flink, etc.).
5. Database Skills: Proficiency in at least one of MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, or other NoSQL databases.

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

Some nice-to-have superpowers are:

1. Containerisation: Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes or similar technologies.
2. Architectural Skills: Experience in building highly scalable architectures.
3. Machine Learning: Basic knowledge of machine learning and data analytics.
4. Web Technologies: Understanding of web technologies and frameworks (e.g., React, Javascript, CSS).
5. Fast Paced: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You’ll never get bored with us, we promise! 
6. Design Skills: Ability to develop modular, flexible, cloud-agnostic, and secure systems.
