We're Hiring: Associate – IP & Technology Transfer
Leading IIT, NIT, and premier research institutions’ IP & Technology Transfer Cells are looking for motivated Associates to support the commercialization of cutting-edge academic research. This role sits at the intersection of innovation, intellectual property, startups, and industry collaboration.
If you are passionate about patents, technology commercialization, and building industry-academia partnerships, this is a great opportunity to work closely with researchers, startups, and corporate partners.
Key Responsibilities
IP Management & Patent Operations
• Process invention disclosures and conduct prior art searches
• Coordinate patent filings with external attorneys
• Maintain and monitor institutional patent portfolios and renewal timelines
• Track prosecution status of active IP assets
Technology Transfer & Licensing
• Conduct techno-commercial feasibility and market assessments
• Support licensing negotiations including term sheets and royalty structures
• Identify potential industry partners and startup founders for technology adoption
Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as liaison between faculty inventors, startups, legal teams, and industry partners
• Facilitate industry-academia collaborations and sponsored research agreements
Marketing & Outreach
• Develop technology briefs, one-pagers, and pitch decks
• Support digital presence and outreach initiatives (website, LinkedIn, events)
• Represent the IP Cell at innovation fairs, startup events, and government programs
Capacity Building
• Conduct workshops on IP awareness and patent filing processes
• Create training material for researchers and students
Eligibility
Education:
B.Tech / M.Tech / BCA / BSc / MSc / LLB
(IP or Technology Management backgrounds preferred)
Experience:
1–3 years in a Technology Transfer Office, IP firm, innovation cell, or related role
(Fresh graduates with relevant internships will also be considered)
Skills Required
• Working knowledge of patent law and IP filing processes
• Ability to read and interpret patent claims and licensing agreements
• Strong written communication for technology briefs and reports
• Analytical thinking for market assessment and due diligence
• Ability to collaborate with researchers, lawyers, founders, and corporate teams
