DevOps Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
 
 The DevOps Engineer handles Tier 2 support and platform operations for a SaaS product hosted on Azure. The role involves a mix of daily support ticket work, deployment execution, scripting, and infrastructure administration. Strong SQL skills are central to the role, alongside growing responsibilities in automation and platform operations.
 
 The work environment is casual and fun, and you will work alongside an experienced, high-impact team that will prepare you for additional opportunities within a rapidly growing organization. The team operates at roughly a 75/25 split between Tier 2 support and DevOps work.
 
 The role requires a service-oriented mindset. The team supports both internal stakeholders and external clients, and we take their problems seriously. Providing quick, friendly help is a top priority.

Job Function and Qualifications

 RESPONSIBILITIES
 
 Data Migration & SQL Support
 • Write, review, and execute T-SQL scripts to support customer data migration requests
 • Validate data integrity before and after migration operations
 • Document migration procedures and outcomes for repeatability
 • Work within established change control processes when executing scripts against production databases

Tier 2 Platform Support
 • Own escalated support tickets from triage through resolution and documentation
 • Investigate issues across Azure-hosted web apps, APIs, and databases using logs, query results, and Azure Monitor
 • Debug production issues and develop workarounds; coordinate code-level fixes with the Dev team
 • Communicate clearly with both internal teams and external clients — translating technical findings into plain language and setting accurate expectations
 • Maintain accurate, complete ticket documentation throughout the lifecycle
 
 Deployments & Release Operations
 • Execute deployments to non-production environments independently
 • Execute production deployments under supervision; progression toward independent ownership over time
 • Author, test, and execute schema and data upgrade scripts without supervision
 • Work within Azure DevOps pipelines and follow established change control processes
 
 Scripting, Automation & Infrastructure
 • Write C# and PowerShell to automate operational tasks
 • Operate the team’s administrative utility
 • Manage Azure infrastructure: web apps, Functions, APIs, Azure SQL Database
 • Administer Linux (Ubuntu) VMs as needed
 • Perform administrative tasks in Citrix, Salesforce, and other third-party platforms
 • Assist with vulnerability remediation
 
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 • Background in a technical support, IT operations, or DevOps role, or equivalent hands-on experience
 • Proficient in T-SQL
 • Proficient in SSMS or equivalent database tooling
 • Experience owning support tickets end-to-end
 • Comfortable working directly with production infrastructure and client data
 • Clear written communication for ticket documentation and internal handoffs
 
 Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 • Experience with schema changes, data migrations, and upgrade scripting
 • Familiarity with Azure — web apps, Functions, APIs, and Azure SQL Database
 • Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD pipeline tooling
 • C# — able to read, write, or modify scripts and small utilities
 • PowerShell scripting for automation or administration
 • Familiarity with Azure Monitor or equivalent observability tooling
 • Linux/Ubuntu administration experience
 

Work Environment/Other Information (Travel Required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.)
 • Remote work environment depending on business needs
 • Participation in occasional after-hours deployment or support activities may be required
 • Limited travel may be required for team meetings or client support
