We are looking for an Embedded Systems / Instrument Development Engineer to join our R&D team for the development of industrial flow meters and process instrumentation.
The candidate will be responsible for developing microcontroller-based electronic instruments, including firmware, sensor interfacing, display, communication, signal processing, calibration and troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate should have a strong practical understanding of both embedded programming and industrial instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities1. Microcontroller & Firmware Development
- Develop firmware for microcontroller-based flow meters and industrial instruments.
- Program and configure microcontrollers such as STM32, PIC, AVR, ESP32, Renesas or similar platforms.
- Develop firmware for flow measurement, flow calculation, totalization and batch control.
- Implement algorithms for K-factor, flow rate, total flow, pulse counting and frequency measurement.
- Develop parameter configuration and calibration functions.
- Implement EEPROM/Flash memory storage for calibration and configuration parameters.
- Develop reliable firmware suitable for continuous industrial operation.
- Debug and optimize existing firmware.
2. Sensor & Signal Interfacing
- Interface different types of flow sensors with microcontrollers.
- Work with pulse, frequency, analog, magnetic pickup, Hall sensor and other sensor signals.
- Develop signal-conditioning and filtering techniques.
- Interface 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, pulse and frequency signals.
- Develop suitable circuits for sensor excitation, signal acquisition and processing.
- Troubleshoot noise, signal instability and measurement errors.
3. Display & User Interface
- Develop interfaces for LCD, TFT, OLED or segment displays.
- Develop keypad/button-based user interfaces.
- Create menus for configuration, calibration and parameter setting.
- Implement display of flow rate, totalizer, batch quantity, units and diagnostic information.
4. Industrial Communication
Develop and troubleshoot communication interfaces such as:
- RS-485
- Modbus RTU
- Modbus TCP, where required
- HART, where applicable
- UART, SPI, I²C, CAN and other embedded interfaces
- Communication with PLC, SCADA and other industrial systems
5. Flow Meter Development
Work closely with the mechanical and instrumentation team to develop complete flow-meter products.
Responsibilities may include:
- Turbine Flow Meter
- Oval Gear Flow Meter
- Electromagnetic Flow Meter
- Vortex Flow Meter
- Thermal Mass Flow Meter
- Flow Totalizer
- Batch Controller
- Fuel Consumption Measurement System
Develop the electronics and firmware required for:
- Flow measurement
- Flow indication
- Totalization
- Batch measurement
- Alarm functions
- Data logging
- Communication
- Calibration
- Diagnostic functions
6. Calibration & Testing
- Develop and implement calibration procedures for flow instruments.
- Work with laboratory/calibration systems to determine and adjust K-factor.
- Analyze flow-meter test data.
- Perform accuracy and repeatability analysis.
- Troubleshoot errors between actual flow and indicated flow.
- Support product testing and validation.
- Prepare test procedures and technical documentation.
7. Hardware Development & Troubleshooting
- Understand electronic circuit design and PCB functionality.
- Work with hardware engineers/PCB designers for new product development.
- Select suitable microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, communication ICs, power supplies and other components.
- Review schematics and PCB layouts.
- Perform hardware bring-up and debugging.
- Use tools such as multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer and programmer/debugger.
- Identify and resolve hardware/firmware integration problems.
8. Product Development
- Participate in complete product development from concept to production.
- Convert customer/application requirements into technical specifications.
- Develop prototypes and conduct functional testing.
- Support PCB development, firmware development and enclosure integration.
- Work with Production and QC teams for product transfer to manufacturing.
- Support field/service teams in troubleshooting instrument-related issues.
- Improve existing products based on customer feedback and field performance.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Embedded C / C++.
- Practical experience in microcontroller programming.
- Good understanding of microcontroller architecture and peripherals.
- Experience with ADC, DAC, timers, counters, PWM, interrupts and communication interfaces.
- Good knowledge of UART, SPI, I²C and RS-485.
- Experience with Modbus RTU is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation and measurement systems.
- Understanding of flow measurement principles will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of analog signal processing and 4–20 mA circuits.
- Basic knowledge of PCB hardware and electronic components.
- Ability to read electronic schematics.
- Good debugging and troubleshooting skills.
