Job Title- Instructional Designer
location- Remote
Position Overview
The Instructional Designer (ID) will design and develop engaging, rigorous, and standards-aligned digital learning experiences for U.S. elementary, middle, and high school learners (Grades 3–12). Working at the intersection of pedagogy and technology, the ID will translate raw content from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) into comprehensive instructional materials, including lesson plans, interactive modules, and assessments. The role requires a deep understanding of instructional design models, U.S. curriculum frameworks (e.g., Common Core, NGSS), and the ability to foster student engagement through scaffolded and inquiry-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Curriculum Mapping
- Design detailed, standards-aligned lesson plans and learning paths for Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies.
- Develop measurable learning objectives and ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels.
- Create scaffolded instructional blueprints that bridge foundational knowledge to advanced conceptual understanding.
- Design formative, summative, and performance-based assessments that accurately measure student proficiency and rigor.
Digital Development & Media Integration
- Author high-quality digital content using platforms such as Articulate Rise and other instructional technology.
- Identify and integrate media needs, including visual models, simulations, interactives, and multimedia resources to enhance learning.
- Design differentiated practice problems and real-world tasks tailored to diverse learner needs.
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
- Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to refine content for clarity, accuracy, and pedagogical effectiveness.
- Incorporate feedback from review cycles and pilot implementations to iterate and improve instructional materials.
- Lead virtual collaboration sessions to ensure curriculum goals and timelines are met.
AI-Enabled Workflow
- Utilize AI tools to support content drafting, review, problem generation, and media creation.
- Validate AI-generated outputs for pedagogical soundness and standards alignment.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional design for Grades 3–12 (U.S. curriculum preferred).
- Strong understanding of math pedagogy, inquiry-based science, literacy strategies, or historical thinking.
- Proficiency in digital authoring tools, specifically Articulate Rise.
- Comfortable using AI tools for content development and quality enhancement.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, EdTech, or Education.
- Experience in digital or blended learning environments.
