Private Household Manager
Malcolm, Nebraska
$65,000–$75,000 + Full Benefits + Annual Bonus
Do you find genuine satisfaction in making life easier for others?
If creating order, anticipating needs and becoming a trusted partner to an appreciative family sounds like meaningful work, this may be exactly the opportunity you've been looking for.
Some careers are about checking tasks off a list. This opportunity is about making a meaningful difference in a family's everyday life.
This is an opportunity to become a trusted partner to a warm, appreciative Christian family looking for someone to become an integral part of their lives for years to come. In fact, their previous Household Manager remained with the family for eight years, and they're hoping to find someone looking for that same kind of long-term relationship.
If you naturally think several steps ahead, enjoy creating order from chaos and genuinely love helping other people succeed, I'd encourage you to keep reading.
This Isn't Just Childcare
While you'll certainly spend time supporting the family's three school-aged children, this role is much broader than that.
Think of it as managing the day-to-day operations of a busy household.
Some days you'll coordinate appointments, schedules, vendors, projects and family logistics. Other days you may prepare healthy family meals, run errands, organize areas of the home or make sure everything is ready for the week ahead.
Every day looks a little different—and that's exactly what makes the role enjoyable.
The family already has professional cleaners, gardeners and a part-time Household Helper. Your responsibility isn't to do absolutely everything yourself. Your responsibility is to ensure everything comes together smoothly and that the household runs exceptionally well.
A True Partnership
One of the things that impressed me most throughout this search is how intentional the family has been in refining this position.
They've invested in additional household support and thoughtfully clarified the responsibilities so the Household Manager can focus on the work that creates the greatest impact rather than trying to do everything alone.
They're looking for someone whose judgment they trust.
Someone who notices what needs attention before they're asked.
Someone who takes ownership.
Someone who genuinely enjoys making life easier for others.
Communication Is One of the Most Important Parts of This Role
Throughout my conversations with the family, one theme consistently stood out.
Communication.
They're not looking for perfection.
They're looking for someone who keeps them informed, asks thoughtful questions, communicates proactively and lets them know early when priorities need to shift.
The right person isn't someone who simply says "yes" to everything.
Instead, they're comfortable saying things like:
"Here's what I'd recommend."
"I can absolutely take care of that. Here's how I'd prioritize today's list."
"If this becomes today's priority, here's what I'd recommend we move to tomorrow."
That kind of thoughtful communication creates trust, helps everyone stay aligned and ultimately makes life easier for the entire household.
Who Typically Thrives In This Role
We're intentionally keeping an open mind regarding backgrounds because many different experiences can translate well into this position.

- High-level Nannies who naturally gravitated toward household management
More important than your title is who you are.
You'll likely thrive here if you:
✔ Love helping others
✔ Communicate openly and professionally
✔ Stay calm when priorities change
✔ Can confidently coordinate vendors and household projects
✔ Are organized without being rigid
✔ Can respectfully push back when priorities compete
✔ Naturally anticipate needs before they're expressed
✔ Enjoy creating calm from busy lives
What You'll Be Doing
Every week is different, but responsibilities generally include:
- Coordinating household schedules, appointments and projects
- Grocery shopping, meal planning and preparing healthy family meals
- Managing vendors and contractors
- Running errands using family vehicles
- Supporting the children before and after school as needed
- Working alongside the Household Helper and delegating appropriate responsibilities
- Organizing the home and creating efficient systems
- Anticipating needs, solving problems and helping the household operate smoothly
- Building a trusted, long-term partnership with the family
Schedule & Travel
The schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Like any busy household, there will occasionally be times when additional flexibility is needed. At the same time, the family is equally committed to creating a sustainable long-term position built on mutual respect, thoughtful communication and realistic expectations.
The family typically travels two or three times each year and would enjoy having someone travel with them when possible.
That said, travel is preferred rather than required, and they don't want an otherwise exceptional candidate to rule themselves out if occasional travel would require discussion. Trips are planned well in advance and all travel expenses are covered.

- Annual discretionary bonus
